Black History Month Last year, 2015, I had the good fortune to team up with the Arts & Events team at Tower Hamlets. They were looking for images to promote their annual Black History Month (BHM) programme of events and happenings, BHM celebrates the contribution made to British culture by people with an African or Afro-Caribbean heritage so I submitted a few for their consideration. It was my luck day, my image of Dillan - The Singer Man.was chosen for an extensive street poster campaign throughout the Borough and the BHM brochure. If that wasn't enough, three more images were featured within the brochure. A photographers dream. More about how Dillan's portrait came to be taken may be found on my site davidcantor.weebly.com Similarly, the same thing happened in 2016 and my portrait of Abdel which can be seen on the Home page was similarly honoured. The penny dropped, sometimes it take a long time, that in my archives, I have quite a few subjects that have an African or Afro-Caribbean background. Here's a few Gallery >> |
